Well, in case you have not been otherwise informed, on thursday the 12th of april 2007 at about 11 at night under the stars and upon the Torr an Aba before the Abbey on Iona I proposed to Michelle and she said YES!!!! So beyond all hope and grace and crazy joy we are engaged!!! God is seriously awesome! Not to mention ridiculously gracious, for it is only in Him that i have been given this blessing beyond all others—to get to walk beside His beautiful daughter, Michelle. i pray that in Him, in His love and strength, i may be able to love her as she deserves. So yeah, i wanted to thank all of you for your prayers and support throughout our relationship, as well as to share with you some of the joy of this awesome birth of light, this grand new journey we have begun. Here are some pictures both from Iona itself, the holy island where St. Columba landed in about 563 with his 12 warrior-monk companions to begin what was the heart of Christianity within the UK, and from our crazy Easter adventure in general. We saw much of Wales, England, and even made it up to Scotland (Iona is off the west-coast of Scotland by the way). And for those of you who are wondering we rented a car and i got to drive on the other side of the road! Very cool! Hope you all enjoy these few pics from our journey! i look forward to coming home and getting to show you all some of the videos we took as well! In this time of preperation we ask that you continue to pray for us, that we seek Him in all things, and that He be the foundation upon which we stand, the goal we seek, the strength we bear, the cool breeze upon our faces, and the cor and fire of our love. Shoots, see you all lataz!!

As adventures go this trip to Scotland was up there on the crazy-yet-wonderful list. Alan Wolf managed to find his way to Cardiff, and then with as little planning as possible we all jumped in a car and drove the 600-odd miles (well Alan drove cuz' it was a standard car and niether Cody and I can drive standard. THanks Alan!) on the wrong side of road. We almost died a few times on the tiny, rain-soaked roads leading up to Inverness; but all in all, with our Damien Rice cd on perpetual repeat, it was a wonderful drive. We did a lightning tour of Inverness, Loch Ness, Sterling, with a 10-mile hike in the highlands of glenn Affric above loch Affric, and it was both increadibly beautiful and exhausting. Here are some pictures of our journey through the lands of middle-earth, the northern marches, and the long, weary, meandering road home. Enjoy everyone!!

Well it has finally happened; I have made it to be a quarter of a century... ah well, it was a fun birthday nonetheless!!! Thank you, all of you, for your prayers and calls and birthday wishes: they truly made this wanderer feel loved and thought of though so very far away. Here are some pictures from both lunch on the 22nd and my birthday dinner on the 23. For lunch a bunch of my friends went to pizza hut for the all-you-can-eat buffet (which I did some serious damage on let me asure you). Sarah, Janet, Becca, and Laura actually got me a cake with candles as well as a bottle of red-wine!! It was loads of fun. For my birthday dinner Cody and the hisar crew, Brian, Alyssa, Chewie, and I went to a Turkish place in Cardiff bay sitting literally over the bay; it was a beautiful dinner with amazing food (and even better wine!) Here's some pictures from both. Hope you guys back home are doing well! Shoots, laterz!

Howz'it everybody!! Well, the days are flying by here on the other side of the world, and it's already Chinese New Year! Last night to celebrate a bunch of my friends invited Cody and i to a lovely dinner and party at their house; it was serioulsy loads of fun! We had fortune cookies, all kinds of amazing food cooked by Wai-Chia, and a decent supply of wine and other dubious beverages to choose from. As the evening got later, and we got sillier, we busted out Taboo (which Cody and i won by the way, go Brooks' Brothers!), and eventually even got out the ol' twister mat. Here are some pictures from our crazy night. i completely forgot how hard twister was (though in the end i won that game as well =) Hope you guys are all doing great back home; we're having fun here, despite the tons of books i need to wade through before the morrow dawns. Shoots, see ya all laterz!

Aloha everybody! Well, the last few days have been quite exciting here in Cardiff; first with Cody's arrival, and then with the completely unforcast snowstorm that fell upon Cardiff in the last two days. Thursday brought us a lite smattering of snow, a beautiful day that we thought would be our only snow day; we were gleefully mistaking. I awoke friday morning to a veritable white torrent outside my window. I, of course, ran headlong into the flurry with clothes that barely kept me warm and dry enough, and had a great day in the fields of snow. Cody eventually joined me and we had an awesome time pelting eachother with snowballs, wandering though the forests of Bute park, and generally freezing our buts off. Here are some pictures from the wintery adventure of the Brooks boys. Hope you guys are enjoying the warmth back home!

Tonight was my friend Janet's 21 birthday, and her wish was to have a massive dinner with all her friends in a posh chinese resturant down in Cardiff Bay. Yet it was not just any party, it was a James Bond themed night! So we all got dressed in our best bond-ish clothes and made our way to The Pearl of the Orient. Here are some pictures from the night's fooleries. Hope you guys enjoy the pictures of me in a suit (trust me, it doesn't happen that often)! It was a wonderful night, with truly amazing food. They even had Mabu Tofu as dish! Anyway, enjoy everyone.
